What did Teknologiakiinteistöt look like through the eyes of a work experience student, and what surprised Veera Nikula, who spent a week at the company in May?
I am Veera Nikula, a ninth-grader doing a work experience placement at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt. I wanted to come here for my placement because I am interested in business.
From the very first day of my placement, I felt like I belonged. Friendly colleagues came to chat and get to know me. I was surprised at what a cheerful and supportive group of people works here. I also saw a lot of emotional expression, and I think it takes courage to dare to be open.
“From the very first day of my placement, I felt like I belonged.”
We joked around and laughed in meetings. I could ask for help anywhere, and everyone offered to assist. I was also able to influence things and provide new perspectives. Here, everyone can do independent work and be relaxed in a comfortable work environment. You also don't have to be afraid of being yourself here. Work doesn't always mean being stressed; work is also about having fun, expressing yourself, brainstorming, and creativity.
I was given nice tasks that were significant and interesting. I was introduced to every unit, of which communications was the most interesting. I got to interview different people, write, and participate in meetings. It felt like I was included as a real employee. I was particularly inspired by the company's successful projects and future development plans.
They strive for a good working environment here, and you can see it not only in the people but also in the premises. There are nice lounge areas everywhere, and there is art both indoors and outdoors. If I had to describe my dream workplace of the future, this would be it. I recommend working at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt; here you can be seen.
