The ElectroCity property has been awarded the LEED Gold environmental certificate. LEED is a prestigious international building certification system that demonstrates excellent consideration of environmental issues in the building.
The office building ElectroCity, located at Tykistökatu 4 and owned by Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt, has received the LEED Gold environmental certificate. The certification used the rating system LEED v4.1 Operations and Maintenance: Existing Buildings.
The operational phase LEED certification evaluated, among other things, the building's energy efficiency, water usage, waste efficiency, indoor conditions, as well as commuting and comfort. The certificate is based on an independent third-party assessment of the building's and its maintenance's environmental features and is internationally comparable.
ElectroCity achieved high scores in areas such as energy efficiency, commuting, indoor air quality, and user satisfaction.
In connection with the certification, a comfort survey was conducted among ElectroCity users to examine their satisfaction regarding the building's indoor conditions.
– The survey was answered by both tenants and, for example, cleaning and property maintenance service providers, in order to get responses from as diverse a group as possible. 82% of respondents reported being satisfied with their work environment in the building, says Erkki Oikarinen, Sustainability Manager at Turun Teknologiakiinteistöt.
During the certification process, the building's environmental performance and impacts were assessed. ElectroCity achieved high scores in areas such as energy efficiency, commuting, indoor air quality, and user satisfaction. The consultant for the project was Sustera Oy.
