The Joki visitor center succeeded in exceeding all our expectations regarding the partnership, summarizes Lena Bäckman, Business Director of Gloves at Mölnlycke. Mölnlycken
A start-up was effectively created within the global major enterprise when the surgical glove division was separated into its own business unit in 2022. Leading this new entity, Bäckman began the partnership with the Joki visitor center tentatively, but she was met with a bounty of results right from the very first year. Throughout 2023, the partnership brought both new partners as well as inspiration and occupational well-being.
– I thought that through Joki we would start building networks specifically towards customers, such as universities, hospitals, and medical students. That came true, but I am surprised by how much more this partnership has given us. I believe that partnerships generate new partnerships, and that way we can offer customers even more than they expect!
Lena Bäckman emphasizes that partnerships are not just one-way relationships; they continuously generate new opportunities and added value that benefit all members of the network.
A brand video encapsulates the desired message
The Joki visitor center has provided Mölnlycke's glove business the opportunity to create strong connections with other partners in the Joki network, such as Rajupaja and Mama Creative.
– We are very satisfied with the events held with Rajupaja as well as the brand video made with Mama Creative. Working with both companies is really easy and smooth, and because they know Joki’s facilities and possibilities, they know how to offer ideas that one wouldn't even think to ask for.

The video detailing Mölnlycke’s glove business, completed during 2023, is a special source of pride for Bäckman, as it conveys exactly the message and feeling that was aimed for. This year, the video will be displayed in Joki’s Showroom and on digital tables, and it will also be used in the company’s digital sales meetings.
– The new video is not only an effective sales tool but also a great way to present our company’s products visually, Bäckman reflects.
Humanity is needed even in the digital age
Joki’s events play an important role in increasing occupational well-being, assesses Bäckman. Especially during the current era of remote work, social events are a rare treat for many, and they are highly valued. The events create important encounters and build a sense of community.
– Humanity is needed even in the digital age, says Bäckman.
In 2023, Mölnlycke participated in numerous events held at Joki, the most significant of which was SHIFT. It proved to be an important opportunity to find new partners, and the discussions initiated there with the Turku-based company Bonalive have led to plans to strengthen cooperation in the future, for example regarding sales and marketing, as well as on social media.
A responsible choice is an investment in the future
Bäckman hopes that in 2024, low-carbon operations will become an even more important selection criterion in healthcare. She encourages considering responsible choices, which might affect the price but are an investment in the future.
”When the goal is carbon neutrality or low carbon emissions, it starts with choosing the right kind of responsible products.” Lena Bäckman
– I would like to shake up society a bit and make buyers consider that one cannot always think about every euro. When the goal is carbon neutrality or low carbon emissions, it starts with choosing the right kind of responsible products. Of course, responsibility also shows in the price of products, but the matter should not be thought of in the short term.
Environmental and social responsibility are not just concerns for companies; every individual should think about their own choices and their impact on the environment. Bäckman wants to challenge everyone to consider how they could reduce their carbon footprint through their own choices.
