What does lunch taste like "on the other side of Helsinginkatu", i.e. at Energeia operating in InfraCity? Our test group headed off to lunch critic duties after a long time and was delighted by the variety of options and the excellent attention to special diets in InfraCity, known as the home base of Turku Energia.
Energeia, a Mood lunch restaurant concept by Arkea, was opened on the street level of InfraCity immediately after the completion of the building's first phase. Mood Energeia offers Scandinavian delicacies and flavors from around the world made from fresh ingredients, and its menus are designed by head chef Jani Torkko, who has a long history in the restaurant industry.
As soon as they step into the restaurant, the test group's attention is drawn to the cozy and bright dining area, dominated by large windows and walls covered with wooden slats. The restaurant's furniture is stylish and Scandinavian, understated yet not boring. Care has also been put into the food presentation: everything is clearly thought out, right down to the dishes and packaging.
On the test day, the menu features pita kebab with fries for meat eaters, a veggie pita with fries and vegan tzatziki as a vegetarian option, as well as root vegetable soup, not forgetting dessert and coffee. The clarity of the menu and the clear marking of special diets delight the testers and make choosing lunch effortless. Pita kebab and veggie pita, along with fries and fresh salad, are chosen for the plates. The portions receive praise from everyone, and especially the variety brought by the new restaurant pleases everyone.
After the main course, the test group heads to get coffee and discovers to their surprise a layered meringue cake on the dessert table. Pavlova is on offer on the test day because Energeia had succeeded in significantly reducing food waste during the waste reduction week. A vegan dessert is also arranged in a flash for the tester following a special diet, and the test group's joint final assessment is that they must come back to Energeia.
